Joseph S. “Joe” Oliveira, age 76, beloved husband of 58 years of Dorothy M. (Sartell) Oliveira died Wednesday at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House with his family by his side.
He was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, May 4, 1948 a son of the late Jose and Maria (Silva) Oliveira.
Joe grew up in Somerville and lived for many years in Billerica before moving to Marshfield and more recently back to Billerica.
Prior to his retirement Joe was a foreman for Lamb and Ritchie a gutter manufacturing company in Saugus for 42 years.
In his spare time he loved to travel and when he was home he could be found doing yardwork and gardening but will be remembered for spending time with his family especially on Sunday’s watching football together.
Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Denise Defazio and her husband Perry; three sons, Joseph Oliveira and his partner Maria, Michael Oliveira, Robert Oliveira and his wife Amy; his daughter-in-law Regina Oliveira; two sisters, Maria Fahey and Natalie Pino; seven grandchildren, Anthony Defazio, Kristina Conti, Michael Jr., Cameron, Chad, Avery and Alex Oliveira as well as four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mary Oliveira, Fernanada McNamara and Manuel Oliveira.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 8, at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 12 – 3 p.m. with a Prayer Service to be held at 3 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Sawtelle Hospice House at www.bilhathome.org/giving
