Obituary for Joseph R. Ferraro
BILLERICA – Joseph R. Ferraro, age 88, beloved husband of the late Patricia A. (Lindstrom) Ferraro died Thursday at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was born in Boston, August 16, 1932, a son of the late Giuseppe and Margaret (Ippolito) Ferraro and lived in East Boston before moving to Billerica in 1968.
Mr. Ferraro graduated from East Boston High School in 1949 then went on to serve in the US Army during the Korean War attaining the rank of Corporal.
Prior to his retirement he was a proud 65 year member of Local 4 International Union of Operating Engineers, was a member of the VFW Solomon Post in Billerica and was an avid animal lover and Boston Sports fan but his greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren especially his grandson.
He is survived by one daughter, Michele Amato and her husband Frank of Billerica; one son, Joseph Ferraro and his wife Teresa of Londonderry; seven grandchildren, Brianna, Katherine, Lauren, Brooke, Alyssa, Michael and Leah as well as his dear friend John Hickey and will be greatly missed by his two Golden Retrievers Lily and Sophie.
A Visitation will be held Monday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish in St. Theresa Church, Billerica at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
