Obituary for Joseph Louis Medina
BILLERICA -- Joseph Louis Medina, 88, a 55 year Billerica resident, passed away on July 8, at the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Jeanne (Kelley) Medina, who passed away in 2011. They were married for 53 years. Joseph was born in East Boston on October 16, 1925, son of the late Joseph Manuel and Angelina Marie (Azevedo) Medina. He grew up in Medford and was educated in the Medford School System and graduated from Medford High School in 1943. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from Boston College in 1949 and his Masters in Education from Tufts University in 1950. Following graduation from Tufts University, Joseph served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed from 1969-1997 by Raytheon Company as a Computer Programmer with Missile Systems Division. Joseph was an avid gardener. He also enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He is survived by his sons, Joseph Medina of Billerica, and Paul Medina and his wife Janine (Goupil) Medina of Hudson, NH, and his daughters, Jeanne Medina of Billerica and Patricia (Medina) Jacques and her companion Timothy Wonson of Lowell. He is also survived by two grandsons, Ryan Jacques and Drew Jacques of Lowell. He was also the brother of the late Florence Rodrigues. MEDINA – Of Billerica, July 8, Joseph L. Medina, Funeral Friday from the SWEENEY MEMOIRAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 8 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Church at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 150 Cambridge Park Dr., Cambridge, MA 02140. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
