Obituary for Joseph L. Torchia
Joseph L. Torchia - Age 74, loving husband of Carol F. (DiPietrantonio) Sullivan died Sunday at their home.
He was born in Newton, December 6, 1934, the son of the late Thomas and Anna (Lucente) Torchia and he lived in Newton before moving to Billerica 31 years ago.
Mr. Torchia worked for the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority as a Toll Booth Operator prior to his retirement. He was an avid sportsman having run in 15 Boston Marathons and was a former Golden Gloves boxer.
Besides his wife, Mr. Torchia is survived by his sons, Scott Sullivan of Dracut, Patrick Sullivan of Londonderry, NH and Alan Sullivan of OH; his daughters, Karen O'Callaghan of Pepperell and Carol Moriarty of Dracut; his brother, Matty Torchia of W. Newton; his sister, Lena MacInnis of Millbury and is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Mr. Torchia was the brother of the late Thomas Torchia.
TORCHIA - Of Billerica, Sept. 13, Joseph L. Torchia husband of Carol F. (DiPietrantonio) Sullivan. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4-8 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Funeral arrangements will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
