Obituary for Joseph L. Colletti

Joseph L. Colletti, age 97, husband of the late Anna M. (Anderson) Colletti, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

Born in Boston on December 6, 1928, he was the son of the late Lewis and Mary (Colucca) Colletti. He lived in Brighton before moving to Billerica 52 years ago.

Joe honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War as a member of the 5th Regimental Combat Team (1950–1951), attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. Following his military service, he began a long career as a mechanic with New England Frame in Billerica.

Joe enjoyed hunting, reading, and daily walks — rarely missing a day. He was a familiar presence around town, especially at Veterans Services at Town Hall, where he appreciated the camaraderie and support they provided. He took pride in participating in local veterans’ ceremonies, especially Wreaths Across America.

Joe remained devoted to his wife, Anna — he was known to never miss a day visiting her grave at Fox Hill Cemetery. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by four daughters: Joanne Ryan and her husband William of Billerica; Mary Heins of Maryland; Carol Clenney and her husband Walter of Florida; and Sandra Fiorentino and her husband Gabe of Wilmington; four sons: Joseph Colletti and his wife Katy of Billerica; John Colletti and his partner Lisa Cawthron of Billerica; Tony Colletti and his wife Michele of Derry, NH; and Daniel Colletti and his wife Karin of Haverhill; seventeen grandchildren: Billy, Joe, Mike, Rory (and his wife Brett), Jillian, Matthew (and his wife Kelsey), Nicole, Danielle, Alyssa, Gabe, Jason, Riley, Ashley (and her partner David), Taylor (and her husband Ryan), Lauren (and her fiancé Jake), Addison, and Gabriel; five great-grandchildren: Reed, Remy, Radley, Matthew, and Nolan; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

He is predeceased by his sisters and brothers: Anna Sinowski, Angie Gallagher, Lucy Motyka, Donna Cox, Daniel Colletti, and Pat Colletti.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, February 26, 2026, at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica, at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Fox Hill Cemetery.

Joe will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who took pride in his military service and his community.
