Joseph J. Mahoney, age 84, beloved husband of the late Victoria M. (Stanley) Mahoney died unexpectedly Tuesday Sept. 10 at Lowell General Hospital.
He was born in Somerville, December 25, 1939 a son of the late Arthur and Dora L. (Berry) White and lived in Somerville prior to moving to Billerica 17 years ago.
Prior to his retirement Joseph was employed as a mechanic for Webber Truck and Auto in Derry, NH.
He is survived by one son, William Mahoney of Billerica; three daughters, Tammi Gomes and Ella Silva both of Billerica, Janice Meehan of Attleboro; two brothers, John Mahoney of Gloucester and David Mahoney of Carver as well as 18 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and a lifelong friend of John “Desi” Desidorio of Attleboro, MA. He was the father of the late Arthur Mahoney of Keller, TX.
Visitation will be held Friday at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 10 – 11:30 a.m. Followed by a Graveside Service at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Assn at www.lung.org
