Obituary for Joseph S. Dwyer
Joseph S. Dwyer, 87, passed peacefully at Lahey Clinic on January 25. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, five children, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Joseph was a member of the Harvard University Police for 49 years, during which time he was proud to have designed the department’s shoulder patch - a design that was later incorporated into the officer’s badge. Throughout his life he was passionate about baseball, having played CYO ball in his youth. When he was 18 he earned a tryout with the Baltimore Orioles. He was a Korean War vet, and a nearly lifelong resident of Somerville. Following his retirement, he and Barbara moved to Billerica. Now he has gone to a more perfect retirement, where he will be reunited with his parents, his brothers, and his son Dennis. We look forward to the day when we will see him again.
