Obituary for Joseph A. Faria
Joseph A Faria age 92- died Friday, June 2, at the Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley in N. Billerica.
He was born in Cambridge, June 12, 1924, a son of the late John J. Faria and Bridget Olive (Sheehan) Faria. His early childhood was in Cambridge and the family then moved to Billerica in 1934 when he was age 10. He was educated in the Billerica School system. He was married to the late Mildred (Nussey) Faria in June of 1945 and they celebrated 66 years of marriage in 2011.
He was employed by the Billerica School Department as a custodian and later operated his own business Joe’s Used Auto Parts on Town Farm Lane in North Billerica for many years. He subsequently operated Joe’s Used Cars on Boston Rd. in North Billerica. He would eventually return to work for the Town of Billerica Public Works Department as a heavy equipment operator. After his retirement he worked for a number of years as a special police officer for Billerica.
He is survived by his daughter Sandra M. Matthews and her husband Paul, and a son Michael J. Faria all of Billerica; his grandchildren, Michael Matthews and his wife Heather of Chelmsford, Karen Fisher and her husband Scott of Virginia Beach, VA and William and Bryan Faria of Pepperell; his great grandchildren, Caitlin and Mathew Fisher and James, Christopher and Sean Matthews; his brothers, Charles Faria and Francis Faria and his wife Agnes of Florida and Adrian Faria and his wife Harriett of Billerica; his sisters, Theresa Johansen of Chelmsford and Mary MacMullin and her husband Allan of Billerica. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brothers John, Edward and Robert Faria and his sister Olive Smith.
FARIA – Of Billerica, June 2, Joseph A. Faria, A Funeral Service will be held Friday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 12 Noon. Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Memorial contributions may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation, One Bullfinch Place, Boston, MA 02114.
