Obituary for John T. Lee

John T. Lee, age 81, beloved husband of the late Carol A. (Kennedy) Lee, died Monday July 13, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family.


He was born in Winchester, MA, May 22, 1945 a son of the late George T. and Merle E. (London) Lee and grew up in Winchester before moving to Billerica 54 years ago.


John proudly served in the US Army, during the Vietnam War, on the elite 5th special forces group, as a Green Beret attaining the rank of SP4 and earning the Combat Infantry Badge, Parachute Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service medal, Outstanding Service award from the officers of 5th Group Jan 1967-Jan 1968, Trooper of the month 82nd Signal Battalion July 1966 and the National Defense Service Medal.


He then went onto a long career as a self-employed truck driver and in his spare time enjoyed riding his motorcycle, vacationing at Lake Winnipesaukee but most importantly will always be remembered for his never ending generosity.


He is survived by one son, Thomas and his girlfriend Hester Rock of Francestown, NH. His daughter, Jennifer Fraser and her husband Glen Of Tewksbury. Three beloved grandchildren, Vanessa, Alex and Katrina Lee. Brother of Herbert Lee of Herman Maine, Jackie Burns of Billerica and Roberta Dobolek of TX. The late Bonnie Pavleck, of Connecticut, the late Sandra Littlewood of Woburn and the late Susan Altrich of Wilmington. Brother In law of Geraldine and Bob Peterson of Newburyport and Dorothy and Paul Algiers of Reading. Also survived by his best friend James Cattoggio of Tewksbury. Preceded in death by his loving partner, Patricia Vailliant of Billerica. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.


Visiting hours will be held Saturday, July 18, 2026 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd.Billerica from 2 – 5 p.m. with Military Honors to be held at 4:45 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
