Obituary for John R. Baker III
John R. (Bob) Baker III, age 86, beloved husband of Eileen A. (Callahan) Baker for 66 years, died Tuesday, March 13, at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading. He was born in Cincinnati, OH, October 27, 1925 a son of the late John R. Jr. and Ella (Suter) Baker and lived in NYC and Bayshore, NY prior to moving to Billerica in 1978. Mr. Baker served in the US Navy Pacific Theatre during WW II, was a Maintenance Technician for Lahey Clinic in Burlington for 10 years and was a member of the St. Theresa prayer group and a former member of the Knights of Columbus and Holy Name Society in NYC. He was the beloved father of Kathleen Baker Scotti of Woburn; the late John R Baker IV; Christopher Baker and his wife Annette of Orange, MA; Lori Hardy and her husband Richard of Billerica; and his daughter-in-law, Shannon Baker of San Diego, CA. He is survived by 11 cherished Grandchildren, Ronald, Reade, and Ryan Scotti, Meaghan and Erin Hardy and Ashley, John R. V, Austin, Christopher, Courtney and Brianna Baker and one great-granddaughter, Aryanna Eileen. He was the brother of the late Virginia Hanratty, Opal Wolf, Dorothy Hockenberry, Beulah Gater and also leaves many adoring nephews and nieces. BAKER – Of Billerica, March 13, John R. Baker. Funeral Monday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 8 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Theresa Church, Billerica at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 1- 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to John R. Baker Memorial Fund, 161 Thunder Drive Suite 212 Vista, CA 92083, payable to Friends in Deed for Friends in Need- F.I.N.D. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
