John “Jack” P. O’Gara, age 83, beloved husband of 59 years of Patricia A. (Thomas) O’Gara died Thursday at his home with his family by his side.
He was born in Waltham, October 21, 1940 a son of the late Patrick and Julia (Daly) O’Gara and lived in Somerville before moving to Billerica 58 years ago.
Prior to his retirement Jack was employed as an Electrical Technician for Western Union, GTE and Sprint.
He enjoyed watching baseball and coached Little League in Billerica for 15 years but most important to Jack was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren helping to care for them and attending as many of their events as possible.
Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Glenn O’Gara and his wife Kathy of Billerica; four grandchildren, Hannah, Gus, Matt and Lexi as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, May 27, at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4 – 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, May 28, at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd. Billerica at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Interment in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org
