Obituary for John F. Mixon Sr.
BILLERICA – John F. Mixon Sr., age 93, husband of Kathleen (Murphy) Mixon died Monday at their home. He was born in Lawrence, April 13, 1920 a son of the late Charles and Theresa (Lazarz) Mixon and lived in Lawrence prior to moving to Billerica in 1961. Mr. Mixon served in the US Army during WW II, worked at the Ornstein Shoe Factory in Lawrence for over 25 years and as a Sr. Custodian for the Billerica Public School for over 20 years. He was a lifelong member of the Billerica Lodge of Elks and was an avid sports fan and pool player enjoying time at both the Animal Clinic and Boars Head pool halls in Sarasota, FL. Besides his wife he is survived by three daughters, Theresa Smith and her husband Jerry of Wilmington, Kathleen Mixon of Leominster, and Maureen Frechette of Tyngsboro; four sons, John F. Mixon Jr. and his wife Linda of Ogunquit, ME, Stephen Mixon and his wife Carol of Billerica, Thomas Mixon and his wife Patricia Evereton of N. Andover and Daniel Mixon of Lowell. Also survived by 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. MIXON – OF Billerica, formerly of Lawrence, July 29, John F. Mixon Sr. Funeral Thursday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica, at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Mary’s Church, Billerica at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
