Obituary for John A. Ortolani
BILLERICA - John A. Ortolani, of Billerica, age 86, died peacefully at his home Friday, February 13, 2015, after a long illness. He was born July 23, 1928, in Somerville, MA, Son of the late Rosa (Marcoaldi) and Enrico Ortolani. Brother of the late Luigi, Alfred and his wife Rita, Domenica “Mimmie”, Annie, Theresa Theodore and her husband Paul, and Elizabeth. Johnny leaves behind his wife of 59 years Mildred M. (Bennett) Ortolani. His sons Glen and his wife Margaret, John “Rick” and his wife Melinda, the late Gregory and his wife Lisa, and Eric and his companion Lisa Murray who was Johnny’s long time caregiver, all of Billerica. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren John, Jackie, Nick, Alex and Ethan as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition, John leaves his “brothers and sisters” in the Bennett family. Before his retirement he was a Custom Font Specialist for Photon and Compugraphic for over 30 yrs. He had a zest and love for life and a deep caring for his wife Mildred. Johnny also had a special bond with his grandchildren. He loved his family and many friends and will be sorely missed by those who knew him. He was always known for his beautiful singing voice and would often sing at weddings, Saint Theresa’s Church, and family functions. His whistling and singing could be heard from the back yard to the aisles of Market Basket. Rest assured that he did it HIS WAY. ORTOLANI – Of Billerica, John A. Ortolani. Please join John’s family and friends for a “Celebration of John’s Life” at the Billerica Country Club, 51 Baldwin Rd, Billerica, MA on Wednesday, February 18, from 4 –8 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, February 19 at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in John’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
