Obituary for John R. Stokes III
John R. Stokes III, age 68, beloved husband of Laural A. (DePinto) Stokes died unexpectedly Saturday at their vacation home in Weare, NH.
He was born in Woburn, July 25, 1953, a son of the late John R. Stokes Jr. and Dorothy L. (Getty) (Stokes) Cormier. He was raised by his mother and the late Francis Cormier and lived in Billerica his entire life. John proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
John was a self-employed carpenter for many years and most recently worked for Robert A. Scott Construction in Billerica.
Besides his wife, John is survived by his sons, Edward Stokes and John Stokes IV of Billerica and his sister, Glenda Cote of Palm Coast, FL and many loving family and friends.
John’s funeral will be held Thursday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 9 a.m. A graveside service will be held at the Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org
