Obituary for John P. O'Rourke
John P. O’Rourke – Age 92, husband of the late Marilyn A. (Donovan) O’Rourke died Wednesday, February 27 at the D’Youville Senior Care in Lowell.
He was born in Boston, June 5, 1926, a son of the late Dennis and Hazel (Stevens) O’Rourke and lived and was educated in Somerville before moving his family in the mid 70’s to Billerica.
At the young age of 16, John worked for the Armstrong Company of Boston as a supply clerk, Harvard University as a custodian, and did general maintenance for MITRE Corp in Bedford where he retired from in 1991 and worked for 10 years at Stop and Shop in Medford, MA.
He was a hardworking man and liked to watch sports, western movies and game shows and loved his cookies. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed dining out with his brother and sister-in-law and had been a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus in South Boston.
He is survived by his sons, Timothy O’Rourke of Billerica and Daniel O’Rourke of NH and his brother, George O’Rourke of Billerica.
His burial will take place at the Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Burlington at a later date.
