Obituary for John P. DeVito
John P. DeVito, age 83, beloved husband of Marie (Raso) DeVito died Thursday at the Winchester Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born in Malden, April 2, 1938, a son of the late Orlando P. and Antoinette M. (Zigarmi) DeVito and was raised in Everett and lived in Billerica for 48 years before recently moving to Hudson, NH three years ago. He proudly served in the U.S. Army.
John was employed as a Music Teacher for the City of Everett for 22 years and later retired from Pepsi. He was a parishioner of St. Andrew Church in Billerica, was a member of the Men’s Group at the Billerica Council on Aging and was an active member of the Billerica Sons of Italy working on the food committee.
Besides his wife, John is survived by his sons, Edward DeVito and his wife Melissa of Hudson, NH and Andrew DeVito and his wife Debbie of Pepperell; his daughters, Maria Roos and her husband Rob of Wakefield and Susan Taylor and her husband Mike of Wakefield; his brother, Paul DeVito of Saugus and his beloved 11 grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. His burial will take place at Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org Arrangements under the care of the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, Billerica. www.sweeneymemorialfh.com A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
