Obituary for John M. Barretto Jr.
John M. Barretto Jr. – Age 87, husband of the late Kathe F. (Klemz) Barretto to whom he was married to for 64 years, died Monday at the Brightview Assisted Living in Billerica.
He was born in Lowell, November 6, 1929, a son of the late John M. Barretto Sr. and Emma (Martin) Barretto and lived in Billerica all of his life. Mr. Barretto proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1946-1953 during the Korean War having served in Germany where he met his wife Kathe.
Mr. Barretto became a Police Officer in 1954 and became Chief in 1976 until he retired in 1994. He obtained his Masters Degree and graduated from the FBI National Academy. He was a member of the Massachusetts Chief of Police Association, the Billerica Knights of Columbus and the 759 Military Police Battalion.
Mr. Barretto is survived by his loving sister, Gloria Rosa of Woburn; his nieces and nephews, Daniel and Anita Rosa, Pamela Aprile and her companion John Manzi, Dawn Cugno, Mary and Steven Smith, Cheryl and Thomas Laundry, Ralph and Maureen Bellegarde, John Bellegarde and many great nieces and nephews; a special family friend, Josephine Kiley; and his sister in law, Helga Klemz of Germany. He was the brother of the late Mary Bellegarde and her husband Joseph, brother in law of the late Daniel Rosa and Burkhard Klemz.

Barretto Jr., Funeral Friday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 9 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Church at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
