Obituary for John F. Major
John Francis Major, age 73, died unexpectedly Friday Oct. 14 at his home. He was born in Lowell, April 16, 1943 the son of the late Arthur and Dorothy (Stuart) Major and lived in Billerica before moving to Lowell 11 years ago.
Mr. Major was an avid golfer. He will be remembered as a kind hearted man who loved the outdoors, camping and fishing. He enjoyed cooking and attending family reunions. He was employed for many years by Polaroid as an Assembler and Machinist, and eventually retired from Winbrook located in Billerica.
He is survived by three sons; Brian Major, his wife Kara, and their son Jack, of Waterbury, CT, Craig Major, his wife Heather, and their daughters Samantha and Sydney of Penfield, NY, and Joshua Major, his wife Annie, and their sons Joshua Jr., Aiden, Wyatt, Noah, and Sanler of Lakeville, MA; one daughter, Karrie Major, her Fiancé Matthew Gallagher, and their children Zachary and Raelyn of Rehoboth, MA; one brother, Arthur Major Jr. of Billerica, MA; two sisters, Dorothy O’Flaherty of Wilmington, NC, and Barbara Zousimas of Hopkinton, MA, along with many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Arthur Major; one Brother, Robert Joseph Major; two Brother-in-laws, Edward O'Flaherty and Chris Zousimas; and one Sister-in-law, Margaret Major.
MAJOR – Of Lowell, formerly of Billerica, Oct. 14, John F. Major. A Memorial Mass will be held November 19th, at 9am at St. Mary's Church in Billerica, with graveside service following at the Fox Hill Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to Celebration of Life Luncheon immediately after at the Billerica Elks.
