Obituary for Joan L. DeYoung-McMillen
Joan L. DeYoung-McMillen—Age 82, beloved wife of the late William DeYoung and the late Edward McMillen, passed away unexpectedly Saturday surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Somerville, on March 21, 1935 and was a daughter of the late Ernest and Lillian (Bradley) Fitzpatrick and lived in Cambridge and Somerville, before moving to Billerica in 1963.
Joan was an employee at Griggs Farm in Billerica, where for over 40 years she was truly loved by all of her customers as well as all of her co-workers over all those years. In her free time she could be found gardening or cooking for her family on Sunday’s and holidays. She was an avid Red Sox and Patriot’s fan, especially of Tom Brady.
She is survived by her beloved son Robert DeYoung of Dracut, two sisters, Barbara Powers of Somerville and Irene Coddington of Cape Cod, and sister-in-law Joan Goulet Sherman of Kennebunk, Maine as well as many nieces and nephews. Joan was the mother of the late Donald A. DeYoung and sister of the late Robert, William and Leonard Fitzpatrick.

DeYoung-McMillen, A visitation will be held Saturday at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Road, Billerica from 10:30 A.M.-1:30 P.M. with a graveside service to be held at 2 P.M. at Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joan’s honor to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave, Waltham, MA 02451.
