Obituary for Joan M. Jordan
Joan M. Jordan, age 84, died peacefully Monday, January 21, 2022 at Care One in Wilmington.
She was born in Cambridge, April 25, 1937, a daughter of the late Charles H. and Elsie Annie F. (Gardner) Paine. She grew up in Old Orchard Beach, ME and lived in Billerica for 54 years.
Joan graduated from Mt. Auburn Nursing School. She began her career as a registered nurse in pediatrics at Mass General Hospital and later worked at the Bedford VA Hospital. She had a keen interest in holistic health and furthered her education in this area. The ocean was her happy place and family was her greatest joy.
She is survived by her daughter, Carole Binder and her husband Richard of Boston; her son, John Jordan of Cape Coral, FL; her brothers, John Paine of Old Orchard Beach, ME and Robert Paine of Lebanon, ME; her sister, Carol Paquet of York, ME and her grandchildren, Nicholas and Matthew Binder. She was the mother of the late Kathleen Jordan and sister of the late Thomas Paine.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, February 7 at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Burial will take place at Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org
