Joan M. Dowgos, Age 90, wife of the late Algard F. Dowgos died peacefully Wednesday, September 14 at the Lahey Hospital in Burlington.
She was born in Boston, November 30, 1931, a daughter of the late Gregory T. and Louise H. (Noonan) Desmond and was raised in Dorchester and moved to Billerica in 1964.
Joan was an active communicant of St. Theresa Church and a member of the Woman’s Club. She always tried to keep her friends together and during Covid would host gatherings in her yard. Joan cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Anne Maillet and her husband Gary of Chelmsford; her son, Paul Dowgos and his wife Jeanine of Easley, SC; her brother, Robert Desmond of Dedham and Thomas Desmond of Quincy; her son-in-law, Kyle Favreau and is also survived by her five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Robert Dowgos and Karen Favreau.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 1-4 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Joan’s name to the Billerica Council on Aging, 25 Concord Rd., Billerica, MA 01821.
