Obituary for Jean F. Keegan
Jean F. Keegan – Age 84, died Saturday at the Wingate at Belvidere surrounded by her loved ones. She was the wife of Lawrence J. Keegan whom she married October 29, 1950 and has shared 64 years of marriage with him. She was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts on June 24, 1930, the daughter of the late Charles and Hilda (Ross) Moar and was raised in Dorchester. Following graduation Jean spent several years employed doing office work. Mrs. Keegan was a quiet and gentle soul who loved her family above all others. She was always there to take care of everyone else. There is little doubt that the true joy of her life was her twelve grandchildren; she spent countless hours with them. She never tired of having multiple children around to spoil. She was also an avid knitter, loved to embroider, did cake decorating for many years and loved any type of challenging puzzles. Many of her most treasured moments were spent in Tabusintac, New Brunswick on the farm where her grandparents lived. She brought all of her family there every year and created many wonderful memories for all. She was also able to realize her life’s dream of traveling to Ireland on two separate occasions, she often shared and relived those trips through her pictures. Besides her husband, Mrs. Keegan is survived by her five children: Kathleen Jacques and her husband Clifford of Windham, NH, John Keegan and his wife Cheryl of Pepperell, Charles Keegan and his wife Linda of Pelham, NH, Jean Lucas and her husband Wayne of Pelham, NH and Lawrence Keegan, Jr. and his wife Deborah of Billerica. Lovingly called Nannie, Jean was most especially loved and adored by her 12 grandchildren: Nicole (Jacques) Callahan and her husband William, Heather and Dan Jacques, Wayne Paul and Stephanie Lucas,Kelly Keegan Mannarino and her husband Matthew, Erin Keegan-Cox and her husband Philip, Joseph, Andrew, Colleen, Edward and Carolyn Keegan and her great grandson, Rory Callahan. She leaves a mark on each and every one of their hearts that will never be equaled. She is also survived by her sisters, Shirley Hall of North Port, FL and her beloved twin sister, Joan Schmitz of Brockton. She was the sister of the late Elizabeth McCafferty. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff of Wingate who have cared for Mrs. Keegan over the past few months, her previous care givers at home, Margo and Carmen and her hospice care giver, Alexandra. The kindness and comfort you all shared with our mother has been truly appreciated. KEEGAN – Of Billerica, Dec. 20, 2014.
