Jayne A. Shannon, age 75, beloved wife of Robert O. Shannon Jr. died peacefully Friday, Jan. 19 at the Massachusetts General Hospital with her family at her side.
She was born in Melrose, September 30, 1948, a daughter of the late John Roman Jr. and the late Alicia (Norman) Roman and was raised in Melrose and moved to Billerica in 1971.
Jayne enjoyed volunteering at the Billerica Council on Aging where she met many friends. She and Robert traveled extensively all over the world, always planning their next adventure. Through it all, Jayne was the world’s greatest grandmother, never missing the opportunity to spend time with her beloved grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Robert Shannon III and his wife Anne of Andover, Tara Mickalide and her husband Scott of North Andover, Jonathan Shannon and his wife Lucia of Swampscott; her sister Marlene Abodeely of Methuen and also her four grandchildren, Jack and Lily Shannon of Andover, and Fisher and Quinn Shannon of Swampscott. Jayne was predeceased by her brother, John J. Roman III.
A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, January 24 at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m.
