Janis A. (Mitiguy) Willis, age 67, beloved wife of Scott F. Willis died Friday December 6, at Mass General Hospital after a 20 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
She was born in Boston, June 7, 1957 a daughter of Frances M. Renehan of Millis and the late James W. Mitiguy and lived in Billerica and Pepperell.
Janis was currently residing at The Boston Home in Dorchester a residential community for those with Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological disorders.
Prior to her illness she was an RN in the NICU at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where she saved and touched countless lives. She was known as the “IV queen” among her peers. In her younger years, she enjoyed skiing, camping and racquetball. After her MS diagnosis she enjoyed shopping, bossing everyone around and having us plan elaborate get togethers. Her spirit was rarely broken, despite her struggle.
Besides her husband she is survived by one daughter, Janine Geoffroy and her husband Justin of Chelmsford; one son, Mark willis of Chelmsford; four sisters, Carol Troiano of N. Attleboro, Mary Ciasullo of Millis, Catherine Perrine of Pepperell and Margaret Goulet of Attleboro; three brothers, Edmund Mitiguy of N. Attleboro, William Mitiguy of Bradford and John Mitiguy of Norwood; her three beloved grandsons, Camden, Colton and Cullen as well as her large extended family and many friends.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, Dec. 11 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Boston Home at www.thebostonhome.org
