Obituary for Janice M. Ekberg
Janice M. (Lucia) Ekberg, a longtime resident of Billerica, died Thursday the 9th of June. She was met and welcomed home by her husband Robert, son Michael and brother Earl.
She was born August 15, 1938 in Medford, MA to Earl and Theresa Lucia. She grew up at Nutting Lake where she met her future husband, Robert Ekberg. Janice graduated Billerica Memorial High School in the class of 1956. She worked for many years at Hanscom Air Force Base, retiring in 2005. She was a member of St. Theresa’s Church and an active member of their women’s group.
Janice loved traveling and had many adventures with her friends and family. Her place of peace was at Ogunquit Beach, Maine where she enjoyed days walking the Marginal Way. Her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother. She adored her children and grandchildren and making memories with them.
Janice is survived by her son, Eric Ekberg and his wife Maryann of Westford and her daughter, Erin Tasiopoulos and her husband Harry of Dracut. "Meme" will be lovingly missed by her grandchildren, Erik, Elizabeth, and Ethan Ekberg and Alex and Christian Tasiopoulos. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Dorothy Lucia and her family who shared in the many memories of "Aunt Jan's" life. Special friends Helen Potter, Maureen LaRosa, and Carol Rourke will also miss Janice’s wit, kindness, and friendship.

(Lucia) Ekberg, Funeral Tuesday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 8 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Church at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Theresa Church, One Grace Ave., Billerica, MA 01821. Burial will be private.
