Obituary for Janet M. Smith
Of Billerica, formerly of Medford, passed away on August 16 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Edward J. Elliott and Elda L. Elliott.
An alum of Medford High School and Northeastern University, Janet worked in Radiology including over 35 years at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. She was admired by her colleagues, supervisors, and former trainees for her knowledge, expertise, and dedication as a Radiological Technician.
Janet had many friends and was loyal and devoted to all of them, always ready to assist in any way she could whether asked or not. She loved to travel, to entertain at home, to sew, or read a book with her toes in the sand of the beaches in Gloucester or Aruba while sipping an iced coffee or diet Coke.
Devoted and selfless mother of David Smith of Norfolk, VA and Melanie Angelo and her husband David of Tyngsboro. Loving grandmother of Grace and Emma Angelo. Dear sister of Elaine Crow and her husband Scott of Billerica, and the late Ed “Jerry” Elliott of Woburn, MA and Jupiter, FL.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish in St. Mary’s Church, 796 Boston Rd. Billerica at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4- 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brain Aneurism Foundation, www.bafound.org or to the Harpley Fund www.giving.laheyhealth.org
