Obituary for Jane Delaney Roop
Jean Delaney Roop – Age 85, wife of the late Harold J. Roop Jr. died Sunday at the Billerica Crossings. Mrs. Roop was born in Newton, December 18, 1926, the daughter of the late John A. Delaney and Julia Keefe Delaney. She lived in Billerica for many years before retiring to Naples, FL and then moving back to Billerica ten years ago. She summered in Marshfield and Hull with her family. After receiving her Social Work Associate degree at Middlesex Community College and her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Lowell, Mrs. Roop worked as a Social Worker at New England Pediatrics prior to her retirement. The family would like to thank the staff and the residents of Billerica Crossings for the care and friendship they provided over the years. She is survived by her son, Stephen Roop and his wife Barbara of Beverly; her daughter, Elizabeth G. Roop and her life partner Richard Hillier of South Deerfield; her sons Douglas Roop and his life partner Charles Thurman of AZ, Gregory Roop of Hudson, NH and Jeffrey Roop and his wife Suzanne of Westford; her grandchildren, Aaron, Matthew and Delaney Roop; her godchildren, Christopher Bradley of Weston and Jonathan Bradley of Newton; her sister-in-law, Susan Roop of VT. She was the sister of the late, Margaret Morgan, Helen Boudreau, Rita Hayes, John Delaney Jr., and Claire Bradley. ROOP – Of Billerica, Sept. 23, Jean Delaney Roop, Mrs. Roop’s funeral arrangements will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
