Obituary for James P.F. Burke Jr.
BILLERICA – James P.F. Burke Jr., age 77, beloved husband of June A. (Holding) Burke died Thursday at their home surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Boston, January 3, 1937 a son of the late James P.F. Sr. and Edna (Wood) Burke and lived in Boston and Revere before moving to Billerica in 1973. Jim entered the Air Force, served proudly for four years from 1952 – 1956 was honorably discharged as an Airman 3rd Class. After the Air Force Jim married June Adele Holding of Revere, MA. He worked as a Warehouse Supervisor for Mark Burton Inc. in Boston, and more recently was employed at Kirkwood Printing Co. in Wilmington as a Warehouse Supervisor for about 10 years. Jim was an active member of the Thomas Talbot Lodge, a Master Mason for the past 38 years, past Master of the Billerica Lodge, also the Merrimack Valley Day Lodge and Ancient York Lodge. He served as the Chaplain of the Thomas Talbot for the past 14 years and was awarded the Joseph P. Warren Medal. Jim loved the Masons, helping others in need but mostly he loved his family He was also a member of the Scottish Rites and Aleppo Shriners as well as the Benevolent order of Elks, Billerica Lodge. Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, James P. Burke III and his wife Rena of Pelham, NH, Richard Burke and his wife Maureen of Wilmington and Steven Burke and his wife Lynne of Westford; one daughter, Colleen Coleman and her husband James of Easton; two sisters, Judy Grogan and Leslie Burke both of Holbrook as well as eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Burke Jr. Funeral Monday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. A Funeral Service will be held in St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, Billerica at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 1 – 5 p.m. with a Masonic Service to be held at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114 or to the American Diabetes Assn., 10 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
