James A. “Jamie” McDermott, age 48, beloved husband of Wendy A. Zangri-McDermott died unexpectedly at their home.
He was born in Meriden, CT August 31, 1974 a son of Veronica (Pagliaro) McDermott of Attleboro and the late John J. McDermott and lived in Attleboro before moving to Billerica 23 years ago.
Jamie graduated from Attleboro High School with the class of 1992, went on to get a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from Worcester State College and was employed in that capacity at Emerson Hospital and Emerson Home Health Care in Concord for over 20 years.
He was a well-known and well liked coach for BYSA and BYB in Billerica and helped build sets for the Billerica Memorial High School musicals.
Most important to Jamie was spending time with his wife and children whether it was a sporting event, play or party he was there for them. He was the heart of their family and always kept us laughing, even in the most horrific of situation.
Besides his wife and mother he is survived by, his children Liam J. and Chloe A. McDermott both of Billerica; his siblings, Ronan and Karen McDermott of Douglas and John and Cristina McDermott of Attlebroro and Chrissy McDermott and Carol Gedman of Attleboro, as well as many coworkers and friends. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews who he adored.
You could always find him rallying up some sort of game filled with laughter and mischief. He was larger than life, filled with love and compassion. He will be missed by all and will live on in the beauty he created in this world.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, December 30 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4 – 7 p.m. relatives and friends respectfully invited. It being his request all other services will be held privately and at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assn. www.alz.org
