Obituary for James J. Tyler

James J Tyler, husband of the late Margaret Tyler, passed away peacefully at home with his family on Sunday, October 27, 2024. He recently celebrated his 94th birthday.

Jim was born in Dracut, October 4, 1930. He was the son of the late Lola Courtis and James Tyler. After graduating high school, where he played baseball and football, he enlisted in the Navy where he served from 1951-1955. He then became an electrician and joined the IBEW Local 103 where he worked until he retired after 37 years.

Jim loved music and loved to dance. He was known to belt out “Danny Boy” at many family events. He enjoyed writing his own poetry, documenting everything from world events to poignant personal words to mark life events of family and friends. He was a foodie and kept a journal of the restaurants he wanted to try after faithfully watching Phantom Gourmet every Sunday. He enjoyed going to the casino – where he claims he was always a winner.

He is survived by his sister Lilian DeLorme of Lowell, Massachusetts and his nieces Charlene, Terry, Carol and their families. He lived with his daughter Melissa and her husband Steven Tremblay for the final years of his life, for which he was forever grateful. In addition to Melissa, he is also survived by his other daughters Mary Ellen (and Richard) Burlamachi; Kelly (and Thomas) Verrill; Kathy (and Norman) Farren; sons Edward (and Traci) MacBrayne, and the late Michael MacBrayne (and Lisa) as well as other extended family. He had several grandchildren and great grandchildren that he enjoyed spending time with and loved very much.
