Obituary for James P. Leyne
James “Jim” P. Leyne, age 84, beloved husband of Mary J. (Danaher) Leyne died peacefully Tuesday at the Lahey Hospital in Burlington surrounded by his family.

He was born in Portmagee, Killarney, Co. Kerry, Ireland, July 26, 1936, a son of the late Patrick and Margaret (Moran) Leyne and lived in Boston and Medford before moving to Billerica in 1972.

Jim was the owner of Leyne & Sons Construction for more than 30 years and a member of Local #534; he later worked in the facilities department at Raytheon and retired from the Andover location after 20 years. He was a founding member of the Billerica Irish American Club, a member of the Billerica Elks and the Billerica Knights of Columbus.

Besides his wife, Jim is survived by his daughter, Sheila Leyne of Marblehead; his sons, Michael Leyne and Patrick Leyne of Andover, Kevin Leyne of Reading and Paul Leyne of Billerica; brother of Michael Leyne and Maureen Ward of Portmagee. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Caitlin, Courtney, Cally, Michael, Kristin, Sophia, Grace and Sydney. He was the father of the late Jimmy Leyne and brother of the late Sheila Smith of Scituate.

A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 12th, at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at
St. Mary Church, 796 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Per current CDC and State Guidelines, face coverings will be required at all venues and attendees must sign up to attend the Funeral Mass https://cli.re/ccb-funeral-signup Contributions may be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
