Obituary for James F. Lang
James F. Lang – Age 87, beloved husband of Joan S. (Ahlin) Lang died peacefully Sunday, December 19, at Brightview Concord River.
Jim was born in Malden, MA on October 4, 1934, the son of the late Harry A. and Mary Lang. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Jim was raised in Everett, where he met and married his high school sweetheart Joan. They had a wonderful and long life together, and have enjoyed living in Billerica for the past 59 years.
Jim was a dedicated and successful employee of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, having received national recognition many times over his 38 year career. He especially appreciated that his profession gave him the opportunity to provide counsel and advice to his many clients and their families. Jim was an active communicant of St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, and formerly served as treasurer for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. He was also a proud member of the Billerica Knights of Columbus.
Jim treasured all of the relationships that he had with his many friends and extended family. All of whom can speak to his love of adventure, sense of humor, and kindness.
Besides his beloved wife of 64 years, Jim will be greatly missed by his three daughters and their husbands, all of Chelmsford: Marybeth and Jay Wilson, Judy and Tony Omobono, and Margie and Jay McLaughlin. Jim’s legacy lives on with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, fondly known as “Papa’s Pals”: Ryan and his wife Marie Wilson, Greg Wilson, Mark and his wife Stephanie Omobono, Erica Omobono, Nick Omobono, Kevin and Alison McLaughlin, James and Thomas Omobono, and Malcolm Wilson and finally, he also leaves behind many adoring nieces and nephews, all of whom he held close in his heart.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, December 27 at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery, E. Chelmsford. It is with deep regret that due to Covid-19 and its variants, Jim’s family is unable to host today’s friends and family with a collation following the Chapel service. Memorial contributions in the name of James Lang, may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, One Grace Ave., Billerica, MA 01821.
