Helene P. Keane, age 82, beloved wife of the late William A. Keane died Sunday at her daughters home with her family by her side.
She was born in Manhattan, NY, NY on March 3, 1941 a daughter of the late Charles and Nora (Driscoll) McCarthy and lived for many years in Greece before moving to Connecticut and more recently Billerica. Helene was able to travel throughout her life but Crete held a special place in her heart and she remained a proud New Yorker to the end.
Helene worked as an RN at several hospitals throughout her career and was known as a natural care-giver. Helene loved her family above all things and relished every moment with them. She was also known for her love of all animals.
She is survived by four daughters, Patricia Keane and Kerry Keane both of CT, Tara Michelle Keane of NY and Kathleen Meghan Roach and her husband Thomas of Billerica as well as her six beloved grandchildren, Helene, Mary, Jason, Kelly, Daniel and Connor. She was the mother of the late Maura Karavelis and sister of the late Charles, John and Dennis McCarthy.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, June 1, at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4 – 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 2, at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish in St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. All other services will be held privately and at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research hospital, www.stjude.org
