Helen V. Brown, age 83, beloved wife of the late Kenneth G. Brown, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 24, 2025, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Lexington on December 20, 1941, to the late Ralph J. and Helen (Fullerton) White, Helen’s journey began in Lexington, where she spent her early years before making her home in Billerica in 1967. It was here that she built a life rich in love, faith, and devotion.
A graduate of Lexington High School, Helen was an active member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church. She was known for her generous heart, her love of cooking, and her unwavering Catholic faith.
Helen’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she cherished her role as the heart of her family. Her children, Barbara Brown Niles and her husband Scott and Robert Brown were the pride of her life. But it was her grandchildren—Pena, Timothy, and Ayla—who brought a sparkle to her eyes and joy to her soul. Helen was never far from the sidelines of their lives, always present at their sporting events with her husband, Ken, cheering them on with all her heart. She adored them beyond measure, and their time together. One of her most beloved activities was doing various art projects with her grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Beyond her love for her family, Helen had a deep and abiding connection with nature. She found peace in her garden, where she nurtured life with the same tenderness she showed to everyone around her. Her love for the outdoors led her to peaceful walks around Walden Pond, where she’d wander while her husband Ken fished, enjoying the quiet beauty of nature. These moments were part of what made her so special—her ability to find joy in the simple pleasures of life.
She is survived by her children, Barbara Brown Niles and her husband Scott of Billerica, and Robert Brown of Chelmsford; her sister, Dottie Cwalina of South Carolina; her loving brother in-law Jack Waldron and her three grandchildren, Pena, Timothy, and Ayla. She was the middle child of five sisters and was predeceased by her beloved sisters, Elizabeth Cronier, Mary Ann Harold, and Barbara Waldron.
Helen’s legacy is one of love, grace, and deep compassion. Her nurturing spirit touched everyone she met, and her unwavering love for her family will remain in their hearts forever. Helen will be remembered for her unwavering love, her nurturing spirit, and the joy she brought to everyone around her and her chocolate chip cookies. She is now reunited with her beloved husband Ken, her sisters, and all those who went before her, and we take comfort in knowing that she is at peace. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen’s memory may be made to St. Andrew’s Catholic Church of Billerica or the Alzheimer’s Association.
