Helen A. Duggan – Age 84, beloved wife of Joseph E. Duggan died Thursday, Oct. 19 at their home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Boston, May 28, 1939, a daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Schofield) Chappelle and was raised in Charlestown and moved to Billerica 53 years ago.
Helen was employed at the Billerica Public Library and was a volunteer at the Billerica Senior Center and enjoyed spending time with her family at Squam Lake. She was also a passionate gardener; her yard was filled with beautiful flower gardens.
She was also the Captain of her high school basketball team at St. Catherine’s in Charlestown, and participated in many charitable events over the years, including the Walk for Hunger and the Tufts 10k road race. Helen’s family would like to thank the nursing staff at Lahey Health Home Hospice for the wonderful care and support.
Besides her husband, Helen is survived by her children, Denise Maniscalco of Winthrop, Jill Morris of Chelmsford, Joseph Duggan Jr. and his wife Mary of Billerica and Cheryl Dornan of Old Orchard, ME; her sisters, Annmarie Garceau and Beth McGaffigan of Billerica and is also survived by her 11 grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, October 23at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Her burial will take place at the Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
