Haylee L. Reed, 28, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, August 24th at Massachusetts General Hospital after a courageous lifetime battle with Cystic Fibrosis (CF).
She was born, August 23, 1997, a beloved daughter of Ann M. (Dunn) Reed of Billerica and Scott D. Reed of Pelham, NH and was a lifelong Billerica resident. Haylee attended Billerica Public Schools, graduating from Billerica Memorial High School with the class of 2015 then went on to Salem State University, earning her bachelor’s degree in accounting with the class of 2019.
Haylee had a diverse professional career, working in retail for several years and eventually being employed as a payroll coordinator for ALKU in Andover. She was an avid spokesperson for the fight to cure Cystic Fibrosis.
Beside her parents, she is survived by her sister, Jenna Reed of Billerica; her former step-mother Becky and step-siblings, Ashley and Kyle, as well as her Auntie Amy and Uncle Matt, Aunt Linda, Uncle Bobby, Auntie Paula, Uncle Kevin, Auntie Sue, cousins Nicholas, Caitlin, Rusty, Kristin, Stephanie, Kevin Jr, Paul and Brandon as well as many friends.
Haylee was a fighter. Diagnosed at birth with CF, she endured a lifetime of treatments and numerous hospitalizations, including a liver transplant in 2023. Through it all, she consistently made others her priority, especially her younger sister Jenna.
Her favorite place in the world was the family cottage in Dexter, Maine. She spent many happy hours there with her family but especially enjoyed spending time with her beloved Nana. She was a “foodie” and enjoyed trying new recipes. Recently, she proudly stated that she had finally cracked the code to duplicate Nana’s special mac and cheese. She was also a talented charcutier, taking great enjoyment in preparing boards for family occasions.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 3 – 6 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Memorial contributions may be made to
