Obituary for Gordon R. Ennis
BILLERICA - Gordon R. Ennis, age 84, beloved husband of (Honey) Mildred C. (Harrington) Ennis died Wednesday at their home after a recent illness.
He was born in Watertown, April 13, 1936 a son of the late James E. and Mary (Coady) Ennis and grew up in Cambridge before moving to Billerica 62 years ago.
Gordie was employed with Star Market for 45 years, many of those years as a tractor trailer driver. A proud member of Teamsters Local 25, he was always hard working and always there to help a friend. Growing up, he enjoyed spending his summers on his Granparent’s farm in Prince Edward Island. He loved to travel, took many trips to Las Vegas, Arizona, Colorado, Aruba with his favorite being to Alaska. He enjoyed western movies, John Wayne and all things cowboy. He was an avid Boston sports fan. Gordie enjoyed sharing a good story, but most of all loved spending time with his family.
Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Gordon R. Ennis Jr and his wife Michele of Westford and Gary Ennis and his wife Lorraine of Billerica; his two daughters, Lynne Lavalle and her husband David of Waxhaw, NC and Carolyn Southwick and her husband David of Groton; one sister Eileen Cotter of Billerica as well as 17 beloved grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
It being his wish a private graveside service with Military Honors was held at the Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Compassus Hospice, 790 Turnpike St., North Andover, MA 01845 www.compassus.com
