Obituary for George J. Hickey Jr.
BILLERICA - George J. Hickey Jr., age 87, husband of Agnes (Kelley) Hickey died Sunday at Palm Manor Nursing Home in Chelmsford after a long illness.
He was born in Boston, May 25, 1923, a son of the late George F. Sr. and Violet (Jones) Hickey and has been a Billerica resident for over 50 years.
Mr. Hickey served in the Army Air Corps during WW II and was stationed in Phalsbourg, France (1961-1962) during the Berlin crisis serving as an Intelligence Officer. He was later reactivated during the early years of the Vietnam War with the MA Air National Guard (102nd) and retired in 1965 at the rank of Major.
He was also the director of School Libraries for Somerville and later Billerica and was a graduate of Boston University and Simmons College and a member of the VFW.
Besides his wife he is survived by, three sons, Dr. Thomas Hickey of NM, Steven Hickey of CA and James Hickey of VA as well as 6 grandchildren.
