Obituary for Frederick J. Glavine
Frederick J. Glavine, Age 86, beloved husband of Mildred “Millie” E. (Towle) Glavine, died peacefully Wednesday at the Emerson Hospital in Concord.
He was born in Somerville, January 11, 1935, a son of the late Thomas J. and Bridget T. (Galway) Glavine, and he lived in Billerica his entire life.
Mr. and Mrs. Glavine enjoyed more than 62 years of marriage. Mr. Glavine proudly served as a member of the US Army. He was the owner of Fred Glavine Construction and installed home foundations for over 50 years.
The first three-sport Varsity captain in the history of Billerica Memorial High School and a member of their sports Hall of Fame, Mr. Glavine was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events.
Besides his wife, Fred is survived by his daughter Debbie McBride and her husband John of Billerica, as well as his sons, Frederick Glavine Jr. of GA, Tom Glavine and his wife Christine of FL, and Mike Glavine and his wife Carissa of Lexington. He is also survived by his ten loving grandchildren and four great grandchildren to whom he was affectionately known as “Pa.” He was the brother of the late John and Francis Glavin, William, Joseph, Gregory and James Glavine, and Margaret Nuttall.
A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
