Obituary for Francis J. Cyr
Francis J. Cyr – Age 87, husband of the late Dorothy (DuHaime) Cyr and the late Grace (Ryan) Decoste- Cyr died Tuesday at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading.
He was born in Cambridge, January 29, 1931, a son of the late Helier and Elmire (Turbide) Cyr and lived in Cambridge and Somerville before moving to Billerica in 1984.
Mr. Cyr was employed as a Truck Driver for Local 25 having driven for the former Halls Transportation and St. Johnsbury Trucking. Along with his wife Grace, Mr. Cyr was a foster parent for 34 years to many children and was still currently serving as a foster parent. He was a member of the Billerica Elks and the Cambridge French Club.
Mr. Cyr is survived by his daughter, Pamela Galaid and her husband Allan of Billerica, Debra Lemack of Billerica and Grace Spellenberg of Somerville; his sons, John “Jay” Cyr of Manchester, NH and Frank J. Cyr and his wife Cindy of FL, his brother, Alfred Cyr of Billerica; his sisters, Loretta Davis of Holiday, FL and Margaret Demster of Brighton, MO. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Jessica Galaid-Long of Pelham, NH and Austin and Dalton Cyr of FL and five other grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Leo and George Cyr and Yvonne Pominville.
CYR – Of Billerica, Oct. 9, Francis J. Cyr, Funeral Friday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 8 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Church at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 5-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Burial in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
