Obituary for Floyd L. Vogan Jr.

Floyd L. Vogan Jr. – Age 77, husband of the late Kathleen M. (McNeill) Vogan died peacefully Tuesday, December 2 at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln surrounded by his family.


He was born in Waltham, November 3, 1947, a son of the late Floyd L. Vogan Sr. and Rose F. (Juliano) Vogan. Floyd was raised in Cambridge, graduating from Rindge Technical High School where he starred on the high school basketball team. After graduating, he proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War in the 1st Target Acquisition Battalion, 25th Field Artillery in South Korea.


Floyd lived in Billerica for many years and was a member of the VFW Solomon Post in North Billerica. Later in life, he moved to Alexandria, NH where he fulfilled his lifelong dream of building a log home on Bear Mountain. He was a professional Flooring Installer where he worked for Belmont Flooring and later owned Floyd’s Flooring until his retirement.


While he enjoyed life to the fullest, Floyd was most passionate about gardening, cooking for friends and family, carpentry, and loved being the center of attention showing off his dancing skills.


Floyd is survived by his daughter, Jayme Cerullo and her husband Christopher of Billerica; his son, Samuel Peterson-Etem and his husband Chase of Minnesota; his brother, Paul Vogan of Billerica; his sister, Charleen of Kansas; his granddaughters, Chiara and Darianna Cerullo of Billerica; his nephew Joshua Vogan and wife Suzanne, Mathew Vogan and wife Marissa, and Christopher Vogan; great nephews Benjamin, William and great niece Ella; in addition to his step-daughter Carol and her daughter Alivia.


Visiting hours will be held Thursday, December 5 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4-7 p.m. A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday at the Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Rd., Billerica at 12 noon. Memorial contributions may be made in Floyd’s name to the Billerica Community Pantry, P.O. Box 285, Billerica, MA 01821.
