Obituary for Florence 'Floss' R. Evans
Florence “Floss” R. Evans – Age 79, beloved wife of the late Roger A. Evans died Wednesday at the Lahey Hospital in Burlington following a brief illness. She was born in Cambridge, June 25, 1935, the youngest of seven children born to Charles and Fannie (French) Mercer. She graduated from Cambridge High and Latin School. She and Roger were high school sweethearts and were married in 1955. Mrs. Evans worked as a Payroll Supervisor at MIT Lincoln Labs and in Accounts Receivable at USCI/Bard. She was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star #212 in Billerica and a longtime member of the First Congregational Church in Billerica. She is survived by her daughters, Ruth A. Evans of Shrewsbury and Judith A. Sharos and her husband Bill of Tyngsborough; her sister, Vera Hodder and her husband Morley of St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada; her brother, Charles Mercer and his wife Ellen of Sunapee, NH; her brother-in-law, Charles Taylor of Lexington, her sister-in-law, Janet Mercer of Woburn and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Harold Mercer, Harris Mercer and his wife Gertrude, Doris Lundberg and her husband Eugene and Eva Taylor. EVANS – Of Billerica, Dec. 31, Florence “Floss” R. Evans, Visiting hours will be held Sunday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 1-4 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held Monday at the First Congregational Church, 18 Andover Rd., Billerica at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church, 18 Andover Rd., Billerica, MA 01821 or to the MSPCA 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130. Burial in Westview Cemetery, Lexington
