Obituary for Evelyn J Walker
Evelyn J. Walker – Age 89, wife of the late Warren G. Walker passed away peacefully, Sunday at the Meadow View Center in North Reading.
She was born in Somerville, September 12, 1927, a daughter of the late Joseph C. and Catherine E. (Gallivan) Souza and lived in Cambridge and Somerville before moving to Burlington.
Evelyn was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. She would spend hours cooking, baking and preparing for family and friends.
Evelyn was best known for her kind and loving nature. We will cherish all the wonderful memories we have of Grammy selflessly being there for all of us. She will be truly missed by her family and all that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Jim Walker and his wife Jayla of Myrtle Beach, SC, Beverly Marklis and her husband Joe of Billerica, Cheryl Phoenix and her husband Tim of Stratham, NH and the late Jean O’Toole and her husband Peter; her grandchildren, Brian O’Toole, Kelley Pena, Joe Marklis, Keri Noke, Jeff Marklis, Dustin Walker, Eric Marklis, Rachael Hession, Joshua Phoenix, Corey Walker and Taylor Phoenix; her great grandchildren, Delaney, Madison, Khyle, Aidan, Ronan, Juliana, Alyvia, Jillian, Brooklyn, Briele, Max Tayah, Tyler, Adalyn and Keegan.
Evelyn was employed at Varian in Bedford prior to her retirement.
Funeral Wednesday from the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 8 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Church, Billerica at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Burial in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
