Obituary for Evelyn C. Romano
METHUEN – Evelyn C. (Angelli) Romano, age 69, beloved wife of Louis Romano, Jr, , passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2011, after a long battle with cancer. Besides her husband of 45 years she is survived by her children, Suzanne Veneziano of Littleton, Nicole Romano formerly of Billerica, and Louis Romano III and his wife Suzanne of Burlington; two brothers, Edmond Angelli of Medford and Louis Angelli of Billerica as well as two grandchildren, Samantha and Emily Romano. She was also the sister of the late Alfred Mucci, Jr. Evelyn was born in Somerville, MA on April 23, 1942 to the late Christine (Pignone) Angelli and Edmond Angelli. She spent her early childhood in Somerville before moving with her family to Medford and graduating from Medford High School in the class of 1960. Evelyn loved to talk of the days she was a “Penny Sister,” a singing group she was part of during her teenage years. Having also danced for years as a young girl and into her adulthood, she was strongly encouraged to audition for the famous “Rockettes.” Always believing in the importance of higher education, Evelyn went on to attend Katherine Gibbs School for Business as well as Dale Academy for Cosmetology and then pursued a career as a hairstylist in Brookline, MA. It was during this time that she met Louis, the love of her life. They married on November 6th, 1966 and remained happy and devoted to one another and their three children for the next 46 years. Through the years Evelyn lived a life committed to raising her three children, instilling lifelong family values, importance of education and kindness and respect to others. Her family was her priority and therefore she chose only to work from home for many years. Evelyn was an active parishioner at St.Theresa’s and was recognized by the Catholic Church for her long time work as a CCD teacher. Once her children were grown she worked alongside her husband in their marketing business. In addition to her work as a marketing consultant she was a business partner with her daughter in their hair salon in Woburn. Evelyn was a people – person and was loved by everyone who met her for her vibrance and sense of humor. When at home, Evelyn loved to read, especially Danielle Steele novels. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Evelyn’s favorite time of year was the holidays. She loved the family being together and reminiscing. Her love for children did not end with her own. Every Christmas she would buy gifts for children in need. Giving to those less fortunate was always of utmost importance to her. Her strong faith and the devotion of her husband, support of her children and close family and friends, is what gave her the strength to fight her battle to the end. She will remain an inspiration to all those who knew of her courage and loved her until the end. ROMANO – Of Methuen formerly of Billerica and Medford, Oct. 16. Evelyn C. (Angelli) Romano.
