Ellen C. Corriveau, 86, of Billerica, beloved wife of the late Claude J. Corriveau, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, surrounded by her family, after a period of declining health.
Born in Brookline, MA, on September 16, 1939, Ellen was the daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa (Montague) Crowley. In Brookline she met Claude, the love of her life, and together they built a devoted partnership. They made their home in Brookline until 1968, when they moved to Billerica to raise their family.
Ellen worked for many years in the Billerica school system cafeteria, where she took pride in caring for “her kids” with warmth and good humor. After leaving the schools, she continued to bring her steady work ethic and friendly spirit to the bakery at Market Basket and later to Bedford Auto Parts.
At the heart of Ellen’s life was time spent with Claude and their family. Whether relaxing at home or traveling across the United States and Canada, they cherished every mile and moment together, creating memories that will be held close by those who loved them. A devoted grandmother, Ellen could always be found on the sidelines, in the audience, or at the rink—cheering at games, applauding at dance recitals, and offering quiet encouragement from the stands. She embraced what some might call a simple life, but those who knew her understood it was full—rich with love, loyalty, and the everyday joys of family.
Ellen is survived by her daughters, Theresa Pomerleau and her husband Michael of Litchfield, NH; Denyse Baj and her husband David of Leominster; and Pamela Hadley and her husband Richard of Billerica; and by her brother, Edward Crowley of Reading. She leaves eight grandchildren—Justin, Sean, Geoffrey, Michelle, Andrew, Trevor, Ethan, and Claudia—and two great-grandchildren, Dempsey and Rowan.
She was predeceased by her son, John Corriveau, and her grandson, Jason.
Ellen’s family will remember her for her unwavering kindness, her quiet strength, and the deep, constant love she shared so generously. May her memory be a blessing.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 30 at the Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Rd., Billerica at 12:30. Memorial contributions can be made in Ellen’s name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, www.lls.org Arrangements under the care of the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, Billerica.
