Obituary for Elizabeth A. Batten
BILLERICA – Elizabeth A. (Heffernan) Batten, age 67, wife of the late Ralph Batten Jr., died Thursday at Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading after a brief illness. She was born in South Boston, November 26, 1945 a daughter of John and Mary (Grimes) Heffernan of North Chelmsford and lived in Marshfield and Portsmouth prior to moving to Billerica in 1978. Mrs. Batten worked in the Accounts Payable Dept. for USCI, Kaye Instruments and most recently General Electric. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, making ceramics and reading. Besides her parents she is survived by three daughters, Mary Raymond of Beverly, Kathleen Rettman and her husband Paul of Billerica and Kimberly McCann and her husband Derek of Burlington; four brothers, Kevin Heffernan and his wife Patty of Dracut, Jack Heffernan and his wife Sheryl of Chelmsford, Brian Heffernan of Chelmsford, Neil Heffernan and his wife Donna of Auburn, NH; one sister Maureen Logue and her husband Patrick of Lowell; four grandchildren, Emma and Tessa McCann and Jack and Abigayle Rettman as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Gary Heffernan. BATTEN – Of Billerica, May 9, Elizabeth A. (Heffernan) Batten. Funeral Tuesday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Andrew Church, Billerica at 11 a.m. Relative and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4 – 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701 or to the American Diabetes Assn. 10 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701 Burial in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
