Obituary for Eleanora "Lee" Molinari

Eleanora ‘Lee’ (Cirillo) Molinari, a long-time resident of Billerica, passed away peacefully at the age of 100. She was the beloved wife of George H. Molinari to whom she was married for 54 years before his passing in 2003.

Born June 9, 1923 in New York City, she was the daughter of Giuseppe and Anastasia (Schein) Cirillo. She received her education in the New York City public schools and relocated to Medford MA at the age of 18. She was a resident of Billerica for over 60 years prior to moving to Lawrence.

Eleanora was a communicant of St. Theresa’s Church in Billerica.

‘Lee’ retired from the Arlington Five Savings Bank in Bedford, MA where she was a valued employee for many years until her retirement in 1983. She also worked for many years at Bedford Farms Ice Cream. Upon her retirement ‘Lee’ and George enjoyed spending winters in Palm Harbor, Florida, where she enjoyed golfing with friends as well as watching sunsets with her family.

She was a long time member of the Sunshine Girls at the Billerica Elderly Housing where she enjoyed many spirited games of Buffalo Bingo and dining out. Lee was also a member of the Billerica Chapter of the Red Hat Society with whom she enjoyed day trips.

Lee was a lifelong reader, enjoyed listening to music, watching movies and was very proud of her Italian heritage. She will be remembered for her outgoing personality and sociable nature as well as her love of life.

Lee is survived, and will be deeply missed, by her sons, Robert G. Molinari and his life partner Lea Kirkpatrick of Lowell, John J. Molinari and his wife Mary of Mont Vernon, NH and daughter-in-law, Florence Molinari of Lowell; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Molinari) Normand and her husband Richard of Tyngsboro, Robert E. Molinari of Poway, CA, Katherine (Molinari) Dupuis and her husband Jeffrey of Mont Vernon, NH, James Molinari of Hudson, NH, Michelle (Molinari) Caputo and her husband Dominic of Amherst, NH; thirteen great grandchildren, Shelby, Emily, Anthony, Abagael, Jaryd, Austyn, Justyne, Zachary, Aidan, Joshua, Ryan, Dominic, Gianna; and a sister Barbara (Cosentino) Celata and her husband Michael of Reading, MA.

She was predeceased by her son, James P. Molinari of Lowell, two brothers Joseph and Anthony, her sisters Frances and Mary and her niece (and dear friend) Irma. She was also predeceased by her grandson, Joseph P. Molinari, of Lowell, MA.

She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters in law and friends. Lee’s family is very grateful for the care that she received at the Marguerite House and Mary Immaculate Nursing Facility.


Visiting hours will be held Thursday, July 6 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4-7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Eleanora’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
