Elaine M. (Hedlund) Steinhilber, age 92, beloved wife of the late Richard T. Steinhilber, died peacefully Friday, August 11, 2023 at Brightview Concord River with her family by her side.
She was born in Lowell, March 17, 1931 a daughter of the late Oscar E. and Bessie C. (Larson) Hedlund. She grew up in the Worcester area and attended South High School. Elaine enjoyed life with husband and children in the New London, Waterford, and Niantic, CT area for 60 years. She returned to her birthplace of Chelmsford 7 years ago.
Elaine graduated from the Massachusetts School of Art in 1952 and went on to enjoy both working as an Art Teacher for the Waterford, CT elementary schools, and painting with many artist friends in New England and around the world. Her art remains as a living memorial to her love of life, Earth, and God’s creation.
She is survived by her daughter, Fay Carraher and husband William of Milford, NH; son Mark Steinhilber and his wife Tracey of CA; her brother Paul Hedlund of Millbury, MA: six grandchildren, David, Julie, Taylor, Jordyn, Morgan and Avery as well as three great-grandchildren Andrew, Emerson, and Maryn.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, August 15 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 11 – 1 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
