Edward J. “Eddie” McInerney Jr., age 63, died Sunday July 5, 2026, after a short illness, at Tufts New England Medical Center with his family by his side.
He was born in Arlington, Massachusetts on April 4, 1963. He was the son of Edward J. McInerney of Billerica and the late Patricia A. (Maloney) McInerney. Eddie was a lifelong Billerica resident.
Eddie graduated from Billerica Memorial High School and went on to a long career as a self-employed roofer and framer. He was known around the neighborhood as someone you could count on to help no matter what the task. He enjoyed attending car shows with family and friends. He liked hiking and camping in the White Mountains with friends.
Besides his father, he is survived by his son, Kevin McInerney and his girlfriend Dana Williams of Billerica; four sisters, Debra Mead and her husband Bill of Bridgton, Sheila McInerney and her partner John Marsh of N. Andover, Karen Shea and her husband Dennis of Naples and Angelica McInerney and her partner Michael Collins of Tyngsboro as well as his beloved granddaughter Makena, nieces and nephews and many friends.
Visiting hours will be held Friday July 10, 2026 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd. Billerica from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. with a Graveside Service to be held at Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Autism Speaks (Autism Society of Massachusetts) or the MS Society of Greater New England (Greater New England Chapter | National MS Society).
