Edward C. Freeland Jr. – Age 78, died Thursday, November 21 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, NH with his family at his side.
He was born in Medford, August 9, 1946 a son of the late Edward C. Freeland Sr. and Eleanor (Perry) Freeland and was raised in Burlington and lived there until moving to Nashua seven years ago.
Ed was the former owner of the Woburn Service Center for 35 years and a beloved fixture in Woburn. He was later was employed as a Bus Driver for Eastern Bus Company in Billerica where he was also the Bus Driver for the BMHS Softball team for many years. He was an avid NASCAR fan and was a licensed NASCAR driver.
He is survived by his daughters, Christine Ciano and her husband Mike of Billerica, Donna McAvoy and her husband Scott of Billerica and his grandchildren, Allyson (McAvoy) and her husband Daniel Rivers of Derry, Patrick McAvoy and his fiancé Raya Hankin of Watertown, Shaun and Sydney McAvoy of Billerica, Jarrett Ciano of Billerica, Dylan and Jacob Freeland of Fremont, NH as well as his great granddaughter, Riley Rivers of Derry. He was the father of the late Edward C. Freeland III. He was the beloved former husband of Anne Freeland and Bernadette Lemaire.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Monday, November 25 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4-7 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday at the Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. A Mercy Meal will be held at a later date for family and friends.
